The CANSail 1-2 day camps are taught in Optimist Pram dinghies, perfect for younger sailors to learn in. These lessons cover the basics of sailing such as steering, speed, manoeuvring, and safety at the CANSail 1/2 level. Our enthusiastic and skilled coaches will help your child increase their confidence on the water in a safe and welcoming environment. No experience is necessary! 

Lessons run every week day* with a half-day on Fridays to allow you to enjoy your weekend! Please bring lunches, water bottles, and a life jacket/PFD (can also be provided). We look forward to seeing you on the water!

Les camps de jour CANSail 1/2 sont offerts en dériveurs Optimist Pram, parfaits pour l’apprentissage des plus jeunes navigateurs. Les cours ont lieu pendant une semaine complète, avec une demi-journée le vendredi afin de vous permettre de profiter de votre fin de semaine. Veuillez apporter un lunch, une bouteille d’eau et un gilet de sauvetage/VFI (si vous en avez un). Nous avons hâte de vous voir sur l’eau !

Women and Wind Wednesdays are CANSail 1-2 lessons for people who identify as female. These lessons use Club 420 dinghies, perfect for learning to sail. Sail Manitoba would like to invite members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community to join us at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre at FortWhyte Alive for a chance to learn how to to sail!

During June we will be running 4 taster sessions for FREE every Friday. These sessions are designed for participants to learn the ropes and give sailing a try in a safe and welcoming environment. These sessions are designed to be taken once, but if you are interested in taking more than one please let us know and we can add you to the wait list. PLEASE DO NOT PAY BELOW FOR A TASTER SESSION! During July and August, we will be offering lessons once a week for the whole month, giving participants a chance to work towards their CANSail 1 or 2 level, learning the basics of sailing such as steering, speed, manoeuvring, and safety.

Our facilities at Fort Whyte use our double-handed Club 420 boats, giving participants an opportunity to learn how to be the crew or the skip. Our certified CANSail coaches can help you work towards your CANSail levels or just show you the ropes! We look forward to a fun summer of sailing for all members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Please bring water bottles, and a life jacket/PFD if you have one (can also be provided).

Thanks to Sail Canada "Sailing for All" initiative, we are happy to offer this programming at a subsidized rate!

We are offering the chance to charter boats at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre at Fort Whyte. Experienced sailors can rent a boat for an hour to take out family and friends on Lake Devonian in our Club 420s. Our staff will rig and de-rig your boat for you and act as a safety boat on the water.

If you would like the opportunity to try out sailing before committing to a whole program or to have a lesson with your friends and family, our private lessons are perfect for you!

These lessons will be with one of our CANSail certified coaches and will be tailored to your group’s level. These lessons will use our Club 420s and/or our Prams to help develop your skills. Each lesson is 3 hours.

These lessons will cover the CANSail 1-2 curriculum and be for ages 8 to 13. Our certified CANSail coaches can help you work towards your CANSail levels or just show you the ropes!
